1 How do i get started?
Simply signup to your selected product. Pay for it online using the online ordering system on Netbackups.co.ke or manually at one of our offices. Once your account is active you will be sent the login details to the email address specified on the application. Click here to register
2 How much does it cost?
From just Kshs 850.00 per month for a spacious 1 GB Net Vault. Billing is based on storage space used that is selected by you. Refer to our sign up page for specific information. www.netbackups.co.ke/pricing.aspx
3 I already backup my files on tape/C/DVD, so why do I need NetBackups?
Tape / CD / DVD systems can be reliable, but require a high level of ongoing maintenance to guarantee reliability and integrity. In addition, most users store their backup tapes onsite with their computer, so you're not protected in the case of theft, fire, or other natural disaster. Hence, NetBackups offers you and offsite solution – so no matter what happens at your office location you have a copy of the data at a remote location.
4 How are my files transferred?
Your files are transferred electronically via the Internet. Once you login to your account our website and application are running on SSL secure encryption and Blowfish encryption for transmission and storage security. The encryption process ensures that no one but you has access to your data.
5 How secure are the encrypted files?
We offer some of the strongest encryption technology available with a Blowfish and SSL combination.

6 Can anyone else access my data?
Only if you give someone your access details to NetBackups. Passwords are encrypted so you are the only one with access to your password. The only other time your data can be accessed by someone else is when you share the data on the folders and make it available for sharing.
7 Will the backup work through my firewall?
The NetBackups application is designed to be firewall friendly. If the firewall is configured to allow outgoing web traffic on ports 80 and 443 (which are required for browsers to function), the NetBackups Application will function correctly.
8 Is the software web based?
Yes, the NetBackups Application provides powerful backup and retrieval options and allows you to manage your online data vault - NetVault. It also provides advanced collaboration features such as sharing files and folders with friends, uploading of large attachments and the ability to access your data from anywhere at anytime (All you need is a fast enough internet connection).
9 How long will my backups take?
The length of each backup depends on amount of data being backed-up and your own Internet connection speed. A typical 500Mb backup should take around 1 hour.
10 Where will my files be stored?
Your files will be transferred to our secure servers, which are protected by onsite security and restricted access. We utilize a state-of-the-art storage area network and redundant storage components to ensure the security, accuracy, and availability of your data. (SEE our section on Technical data)
11 How often will my computer be backed up?
As often as you want, because you can login to the system and transfer the data to our secure servers as often as you like. Alternatively, you can download the desktop application and setup and auto schedule task that will automatically upload your data as per your given settings and timings.
12 How much data can I back up?
As much as you want. You will be charged based on the subscription plan selected and you can always add more storage space as and when required.
13 How difficult is it to retrieve my data?
It couldn't be easier. Using your web browser, you simply point-and-click the information you want to restore. You can restore one file or your entire data set. Alternatively, you can also retrieve the data using the desktop application.
14 Is there any charge for retrieval?
No. You can retrieve as much data as you want, as often as you want.
15 Do I need any special equipment or software to use the service?
Just a computer running any recent version of Windows, and an Internet connection. The storage, encryption, sharing is all handled by our NetBackups application software that runs on our servers and is also built into the desktop application.
16 I have a large hard drive. Won't I need a lot of storage space?
No. Users generally need to backup only their data files, not program files. Backup only the important data files that you need to.
17 What folders should I backup?
Look at backing up popular folders like 'My Documents', 'Desktop', 'Favorites', 'Outlook', Photos, Accounting data, Financial data, Important Documents, etc. You have the ability to make your own selections and change that at any time. We recommend you only backup data files. Exclude Program and Operating System files. These generally don't need to be backed up as you can easily reinstall them from the original media.
18 Can I backup more than one PC?
Yes. We do not charge for the number of PCs you back up. You only pay for the storage that you use. Online data is stored in same volume that are sorted by folders you create. If you have a similar file with the same name on more than one PC, please ensure you create the correct folders for each on your NetVault to avoid the danger of the files overwriting each other.
19 How does file-sharing work?
Once your data has been backed up / uploaded, you have the ability to share selected portions of it with whomever you want. You can share individual files or folders. In the NetBackups Online Application you can mark a file as 'Sharable', and assign it a separate password. The system will give it a unique URL for download and even send an email to the recipient with a link. The system maintains a log of who downloaded it and when. Sharing of folders is similar.
20 Why does this help me with large email attachments?
If you need to send a large file to someone, but his or her email will not allow large attachments, use the file-sharing feature of the NetBackups Online Application. Mark it as 'Sharable' and email the recipient a link to the file. They simply click the link to download the attachment.
21 What is your cancellation policy?
Customers paying in advance for each month, as they use our service, so they can simply choose not to renew the service at the end of any monthly period. (Unfortunately, we cannot issue any refunds once the monthly period begins.) Customers paying in advance for whole year, will need to submit a notice of termination 60 days prior to termination date and will then be re-funded their unused portion of the subscription less any admin charges applicable.
